REMEMBER THE ALAMO!!!!

Yes - This post is out of order!  I thought I posted it before our Christmas visit, but I messed up and it did not publish.  This is from our San Antonio visit:)

The Alamo
During our stay in San Antonio, we visited the Alamo and River Walk in the downtown area.  It was neat to show the boys the actual place in history that we had been learning about. The boys were intrigued with how the building has changed over the years.  We also enjoyed hearing the many stories and history from the tour guides.  It is free to visit the Alamo, although they do ask for donations for the upkeep and maintenance of the historical site.

This huge Christmas tree was in front of the Alamo. The various ornaments represent different cities and universities throughout the state. I just happened to get the boys in front of BU! :)  I did also manage to get the Wichita Falls ornament in the picture for Alan.  Can you find both ornaments on the tree?

After we visited the Alamo, we walked through the Riverwalk and ate at Casa Rio, the first restaurant open on the River Walk in 1946.  Alan and I had been to this restaurant many years ago before we had children.  We really LOVE Tex Mex food, so we were so excited to go! It was just as good as we remembered:)

There is a Mariachi Band that performs for the customers at night.  When they came to our table and asked us if we wanted to hear a song, I was thinking maybe it was free and you just give them a tip.  Well...we requested Feliz Navidad and the gentleman kindly said that one song would be $15!!! YIKES! Even the boys' jaws dropped when they heard how much it would be! So- we politely declined and just enjoyed hearing their music from afar...for free :)

Alan crossed the bridge to the other side of the river to get our picture:)

Blessings to you and yours!

Jill and the boys:)
